I thought that by this time of year, the pandemic would be under control, and our lives would have returned to some semblance of normality. It seems that's not the case, so I've already decided to continue taking precautions to avoid getting infected, and if I do get infected, to be strong and handle the virus well.
This is the plan I've set for myself this fall:
Moving every day: It sounds silly, but even though I enjoy running and doing yoga, the truth is I don't move enough every day. Several weeks ago, I decided to move more, and I've been doing it every day since. It doesn't have to be anything special; a long walk while listening to a podcast is a pleasure for me, but I do notice that my mood and posture improve when I'm not standing still all day. Also, when I start the day moving, it seems like my body doesn't want to stop...until it finally gives out at night.
Drinking water, herbal teas, and kombucha: Every morning I drink a glass or two of water. It makes me feel wonderful. Then I have a good coffee, but the rest of the day I drink water, herbal teas, and kombucha. I don't drink alcohol, and this year, I think I'll drink even less than usual. I want to be able to sleep well, stay well hydrated, and take advantage of the benefits of herbal teas and fermented beverages.
Getting enough sleep: Going to bed at a reasonable hour is essential for good health. Plus, it's always easier to get up early for a walk or run. I go to bed at 10:30 pm. Some days I go in earlier, and my body always thanks me for it.
Supplements: In addition to my usual supplements, I've added one more:
Healthy diet: Always, but when you're trying to keep your immune system strong, it's even more important.
Hygiene: Besides taking care of my immune system, I'm also controlling the transmission of viruses as much as possible. I wear a washable cotton mask and wash my hands often, but especially when I get home, after being with people outside my household, and after using the bathroom.
How are you going to take care of yourself this fall?
