At Mediterranean Health, we're big beach lovers—although we also adore pools, lakes, and the mountains. Ultimately, vacations are about disconnecting and relaxing, whether with your partner, family, friends, or even on your own. Where you are is the least important thing.
We want you to do the things you love most during these holidays, but to do them while taking care of yourself, because a healthy lifestyle is best done all year round.
We like to read - especially books about nutrition and health - take endless walks on the beach, sleep a little longer, and cook more calmly, perhaps trying a new recipe.
For us, summer is also a time of learning. Although we're very close, we each do things differently, so when we all get together in one place for vacation, we see and learn from what the others do to take care of themselves.
There are a lot of things we could share, and we will, but these are our basics to help you take care of yourself in the summer too.
Eat more at home: if you have access to a kitchen during your vacation, you'll save money and improve your health. But unless you enjoy it, don't bother with complicated recipes. Stick to simple recipes that include local and seasonal ingredients. Gazpacho, salads, rice dishes—they don't have to be complicated, but the ingredients should be 100% natural.
Go for a walk, or a run, or do yoga at dawn: Soak up the energy of a new day, take off your flip-flops and walk barefoot on the sand or grass, and enjoy the beginning of a new day.
But for that, you'll have to go to sleep early: It's not about being boring, but about resting, disconnecting and getting as far away as possible from what stresses us out.
Enjoy time with your loved ones. Whoever makes you happy, cherish these days together. Put away the TV and your phone and share quality time.
We've also put together this collection of summer products that we hope you'll love. These products are not only available in our stores, but you can also find them at our stores.
Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants help combat the harmful effects of the sun.
Cranberries are rich in Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps prevent and treat urinary tract infections, which are so common during the summer.
Beta-carotene , a carotenoid, protects the skin from the sun's harmful rays. It also helps you tan.
Aloe vera gel is a healing and moisturizing agent. Use it after sun exposure, even if you haven't gotten sunburned, to prevent your skin from drying out and to help it regenerate. Furthermore, aloe vera gel is multi-purpose ; you can use it to relieve the itching of mosquito bites and even as a light hair gel.
We hope you enjoy and relax this holiday. And if you can't this summer, we hope you can use our tips, even if it's just for the weekend.
