Description

Trigonella Foenum-graecum, known as Fenugreek or Alholva, is an herb native to the Middle East but cultivated since ancient times in the Mediterranean region.

Fenugreek, or Alholva, is attributed with the following properties:

Saponins and galactomannan fiber stimulate bile release from the gallbladder and aid in cholesterol elimination and glucose processing in the gastrointestinal tract. In particular, the fiber content helps lower blood sugar levels.

Fenugreek also contains an amino acid called 4-hydroxyisoleucine, the best-known component, which also helps to lower blood glucose levels.

How to use: Fenugreek seeds are very versatile. They can be eaten as seeds, brewed into a tea, ground into flour and baked into bread, or pressed into oil. They can also be enjoyed lightly toasted or ground into a powder for marinades, soups, and sauces. Eating the seeds or using oatmeal makes fenugreek more effective for blood sugar control . An oral dose of 2-5 g of fenugreek seeds can help regulate blood glucose levels in diabetics.
