Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) is a shrub found from Atlantic Europe to Asia. Its berries are one of the richest sources of vitamin C, even more so than oranges and lemons. It is rich in carotenoids, flavonoids, amino acids, and essential fatty acids. It also contains iron and vitamins A, E, B, and K.
The oil from the berries contains omega fatty acids, so it is highly valued as a regenerator and protector of the skin and mucous membranes.
