Autumn has arrived, a very pleasant season but one during which respiratory illnesses, such as colds, flu, etc., skyrocket.
At Mediterranean Health, we value prevention, and although it's sometimes impossible to avoid catching something, we can prepare our bodies to try to avoid getting sick and stay strong if we do. For these autumn months, we recommend:
- Wash your hands: especially before eating, but also after using the bathroom and when you come home from outside. We pick up many germs and viruses through our hands, which touch surfaces and other people. It's not about being obsessive, but about having a hygiene habit that helps you stay healthy.
- If you're not feeling well, go to bed early so your body can rest and respond properly to germs and viruses.
- Take an immune-boosting supplement—like Immunity from Árbol Verde. We also have another immune-boosting product , D-Fense from Árbol Verde, although we recommend this one more for when you're already feeling unwell due to its Echinacea, Propolis, and Vitamin C content.
- During these months when respiratory illnesses are very common, you can take a Quercetin supplement, which supports the respiratory system. This supplement can be taken in conjunction with Immunity.
- Include naturally fermented foods in your diet, such as sauerkraut or kombucha, which support your gut microbiota, crucial for a strong immune system.
- Even if you've changed your wardrobe, keep some summer clothes so you can go out in short sleeves on days that aren't cold and take advantage of the sun - which is essential for the natural production of vitamin D.
- Consider taking a Vitamin D supplement—necessary to maintain immune function—we have 4000 IU and 1000 IU strengths depending on your needs.
- If you do all these things and still get sick, don't feel guilty; viruses and bacteria are a part of life. Rest, take care of yourself, and get well.
