Cómo empezar a cuidarse

Any time is a good time to start taking care of yourself, and at Mediterranean Health, where we have been taking care of ourselves and helping many people to take care of themselves for many years, we want to support you so that you get off to a good start and without complicated things that make taking care of yourself seem unattainable.

Taking care of yourself is a decision we make every day, and although there are a lot of things we could do—like spending time in the sauna or doing cold plunges—there are basic things that most of us have access to and that are also the ones that can have the greatest impact on your life and well-being.

If you were to ask us how to start taking care of yourself in September, this is what we would recommend:

  • Eat homemade food with minimally processed ingredients like vegetables, fruits, meats, fish, legumes, and rice. And if you're going to have something sweet, make it either dark chocolate or a homemade treat with simple ingredients. If you can afford it, choose organic ingredients.
  • Get moving. If you go to the gym, dance, run, or swim, great! But even if you don't consider yourself athletic, you can walk, take the stairs, park a little further away, stretch in the mornings, dance in the evenings... there are many ways to be active, choose the one you like best.
  • Drink water before your morning coffee and take a probiotic and enzyme supplement on an empty stomach. We love Enzymes and Flora 9 , for example. Continue drinking water throughout the day instead of soda.
  • Add fiber to your diet—in the form of vegetables, fruits, legumes, or chia seeds—and add a fiber supplement like psyllium to reach the recommended 25–35 grams per day.
  • Stick to a schedule and create a nighttime routine to improve the quantity and quality of your sleep. It's not always easy, and sometimes we need supplements to sleep well, but a nighttime routine that includes relaxing activities and excludes screens and alcohol can help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
  • Spend time with family and friends who not only support your desire to take care of yourself but also take care of themselves, and get together for dinner—at home—or for a walk. Taking care of yourself is easier and more fun when you do it with others.

These six basic steps can help you feel better and have more energy, which we hope will encourage you to do more things to take care of yourself, from intermittent fasting, lymphatic drainage, meditation and countless other super interesting practices.

You can also add basic supplements that are beneficial for almost everyone, as well as any recommended by your doctor. So, what are our basic supplements?
