One of the health tips we always hear is that we need to drink more water. It sounds silly, but many of us don't drink enough. This is a mistake, as not drinking enough water can affect your mood, contribute to headaches, and dull your skin, among other problems.
The general rule - which varies depending on your body size, ambient temperature, diet and physical activity - is between 2 and 3 liters per day.
Nor should we become obsessed, measuring the amount of water we drink every day, or drinking constantly, since drinking too much water can also cause problems.
If, like me, you feel you need to drink more water, I hope these tips, which have already helped me, will help you drink enough water every day too:
- A glass of water when I wake up: I love coffee and drink it every morning, but before my hot coffee, I drink a glass of room temperature water. I've noticed that when I do this, I drink less coffee during the day, and I don't experience the dryness that coffee sometimes causes.
- Always carry a water bottle: a silicone-lined glass bottle or a stainless steel one . Carrying a reusable water bottle is the best way to drink when I'm thirsty without having to buy plastic bottles. This way I save money, avoid single-use plastic, and don't go thirsty.
- Having a large, favorite glass of water on your desk or workspace is a great idea. I love drinking from these Mason jars.
- Adding flavor to water: I love mint, and when I have fresh mint on hand, I add a few clean leaves to my water bottle. You can also add a slice of cucumber, lemon, or orange for a special flavor.
- Sparkling water when I meet up for drinks: When you don't drink alcohol, or you don't feel like it on a particular day, you can still meet up with friends for a drink without ordering a soft drink or a non-alcoholic beer. I order sparkling water (natural is best). They usually serve it with lemon, which makes it tastier.
- Pay attention to your body: Drink when you're thirsty, go to the bathroom when you need to, and take note of your mood, your lips, your skin, etc. Pay attention to your body so you can take good care of it.
